Lasagna Ingredients
  • 9 pieces lasagna noodles Use gluten-free noodles if necessary.
  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese Use vegan ricotta for a plant-based version.
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded Freshly grated cheese is recommended.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce You can use jarred sauce.
  • 1 piece egg Optional for binding; can be skipped for vegan version.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside, tossing with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  3. In a large skillet, combine ground beef and minced garlic over medium heat. Cook until the beef is browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  6. In a 9x13 inch baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, one-third of mozzarella, and repeat layers, finishing with noodles covered with meat sauce and remaining cheeses.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
  8. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
