  • 12 pieces lasagna noodles No-boil type preferred
  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey for a lighter option
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 3 cups ricotta cheese Opt for high-quality ricotta
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Use fresh for better melting
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 cups jarred spaghetti sauce Store-bought sauce can save time
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure even cooking.
  2. In a skillet, combine the ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook over medium heat until browned and drain any excess fat.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until combined.
  4. Spread a layer of spaghetti sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Layering
  1. Place 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, making sure they are evenly spaced.
  2. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by half of the meat mixture, and sprinkle a third of the mozzarella on top.
  3. Repeat layering with sauce, noodles, ricotta, meat, and mozzarella, finishing with sauce on top and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  3. Let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serving suggestions include pairing with a fresh side salad or garlic bread. Garnish with freshly chopped basil for added color.
