Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use high-quality butter for richer flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt Unsalted butter is recommended for controlling salt.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use high-quality chocolate for best flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time and stir in the vanilla extract until creamy and smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend these dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips gently until evenly distributed.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown while the centers remain slightly soft.
  3. Let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the baking sheets before transferring them to wire racks.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months. To restore crispiness, thaw and reheat in the oven.
